Tribute

David T. Burdick Sr. of Westerly, R.I. was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 22nd, 2024. He passed away peacefully, 12 days shy of his 79th birthday.

David was born on May 4th, 1945 to the late Roy E. & Marion E. (Durfee) Burdick. He resided for the majority of his life in Ashaway, R.I.

David graduated from Chariho High School - Class of 1965. On September 19th, 1987, he married his true love, Joyce A. (Parks) Burdick, whom he met at church. He was her devoted husband for nearly 37 years. Joyce was the heart and soul of David's world. He honored her every day with his love and devotion.

As a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, David was a lifelong churchgoer, latterly a member of North Stonington Baptist church.

David found joy in simple pleasures; delighting in spontaneous outings and road trips to savor a cup of coffee and explore destinations far and wide. He had ventured to captivating locations ranging from Las Vegas to the picturesque landscapes of New England and Canada. His array of interests including scanner radios, electronics, Sci-Fi, horror, politics, and history reflected his insatiable curiosity and intellect. As an avid reader and book collector, his knowledge knew no bounds. David enjoyed moments spent with his family, gathered around the television watching game shows such as Family Feud. He found solace in melodies of old country western, bluegrass, and gospel, with a special affinity for the works of Hank Williams. David was also talented with playing the piano and harmonica, leaving behind a legacy of harmony and joy.

In addition to his loving wife, Joyce, his memory lives on by his cherished daughter, Heidi L. Burdick, his beloved son, David T. Burdick Jr., and his respected son-in-law, Eddy, all of Westerly, R.I.

David had the kindest soul and the greatest sense of humor. He was known for his wisdom, offering thoughtful insights to those around him. His generous spirit, unwavering integrity, and selflessness touched the lives of everyone he encountered. In the eyes of his family, he was a testament to love's enduring power and the resilience of the human spirit. David's memory is a treasure that will be held close in our hearts. He will be missed beyond words and forever loved.
