Rev Henry R. Pendleton

Reverend Henry Randall Pendleton, Sr., 88 years old, of Hope Valley, R.I., passed away peacefully, at his home, on April 24, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Worster) Pendleton, for nineteen years. Born in Ashaway, R.I., on January 29, 1929, he was the son of the late Joseph B. and Artis (James) Pendleton. He is survived by his son Henry Pendleton and his wife Karen of Richmond, daughter Starr Wilk of Westerly, step daughters; Jennifer Dame of Exeter and Pamela Chandler of Chester, CT, 9 grandchildren; Joshua Pendleton, Tabitha Gentile, Christopher Wilk, Mark Wilk, Greg Wilk, Rebecca Dame, Sarah Dame, Jacob Dame and Carrisa Chandler, 7 great grandchildren, a sister Marilyn Pendleton and many nieces and nephews.
Reverend Pendleton was preceded in death by his first wife Hazel Pendleton, brothers Joe and Chauncey Pendleton.
He served in the army as a paratrooper during the Korean War Era and worked at Electric Boat in Groton, CT, prior to his ministry. He received his degree from New England Bible College in Groton, CT. Throughout his ministry, Reverend Pendleton served as a Baptist minister in several churches in southern Rhode Island including Usquepaug Baptist Church, Carolina Baptist Church and Niantic Baptist Church.
He always enjoyed a little friendly competition with his family and friends such as horseshoes and cards and he was an avid fresh water fisherman. However, his true passion was ministering to people and preaching the word of God.
A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly, R.I., at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Friday, from 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Ashaway.
