Holly M. Duksta

Holly Duksta, a longtime resident of Narragansett, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was cared for with compassion and kindness by the staff of South County Hospital and Hope Hospice.

Born in 1942 in Princeton, MA, Holly worked as a civil engineering assistant from the 1970s to the early 1990s. She then made a career shift into elder care and the care of people with emotional disabilities until her retirement in 2007. Throughout her life, Holly was an avid pianist and gardener, with a love for literature.

She was predeceased by her sons; Eric and Howard, and her sister, Leslie Butler of Princeton, MA. She is survived by her half-sisters, Hannah Nunn of St. Helena, CA and Helen Colcord of Portola Valley, CA; her sons, James Duksta (Carolyn Duksta) of Ashaway, RI and John Duksta (Andrea Duksta) of Seattle, WA; as well as her grandchildren, Zachary Duksta of Truckee, CA and Caroline Duksta of Burlington, VT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Holly’s memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Rhode Island.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. Peter's by-the-Sea, 72 Central St., Narragansett, RI at 10am. Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI is assisting with arrangements.
