HOPKINTON - James Walter Cherenzia, 69, of Clarks Falls Road, Hopkinton, R.I., died peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at his home on Side Hill Farm.

Born at the former Anderson Hospital on Feb. 8, 1948 he was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Fiddes) Cherenzia.

Jim graduated from Chariho High School in 1966. He was a truck driver for the John Moran Sand and Gravel, and along with his family owned and operated Side Hill Farm and enjoyed offering horse-drawn carriage and wagon rides with their team of Percheron draft horses throughout New England.

He is survived by his children, James Cherenzia Jr. (Karen), of Ashaway, Mitchell Roberts (Christina), of Coventry, and Laurie Cherenzia, of Hopkinton. He also leaves six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly, RI. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice of Rhode Island, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904; or Shriners of Rhode Island, 1 Rhodes Place, Cranston, RI 02905.
