Joseph R. Silver

Joseph R. Silver, 90, a lifelong Westerly resident died on April 12, 2017. He was the devoted husband of the late Dulcie (Champlin) Silver to whom he was married to for fifty-four years.
Born in Westerly on October 14, 1926, he was the son of the late Samuel and Lena (Lipowicz) Silver. Joe was predeceased by his wife Dulcie and his brother Lester Silver. Joe is survived by his three daughters Lydia Silver of Westerly, Susan Whitney and husband Steven of Attleboro, MA, Sheryl Postemski and husband David of Lebanon, CT, his cherished granddaughter Megan Postemski of Philadelphia, PA, and his sister Rose Kuhhirte and her husband William of Milton, Florida.
Joe was a graduate of Westerly High School class of 1944 and was chosen salutatorian. He worked along with his parents on the family farm for many years before taking over “Silver’s Dairy farm” with his wife Dulcie and family at his side. Joe was his happiest working outdoors, tending to his animals and crops. Joe was always a hardworking, honorable, family man and he instilled these values in his children and will be remembered fondly by all.
A funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home 121 Main Street Westerly, RI. Burial will immediately follow at River Bend Cemetery.
