Nancy E. Peavey

June 28, 1947 ~ March 24, 2017 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Nancy E. Peavey, beloved wife of Alan Peavey of Pawcatuck, CT, passed away on March 24, 2017 in Mystic, CT after a courageous battle of eighteen months with an autoimmune disease.

Born on June 28, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Sigurd and Hazel (Brown) Sletten of Westerly. Nancy and her late sister Kristine were raised by her mother and late Uncle William Brown, after her father died when she was three months old.

Graduating from Westerly High School in 1965, she then attended URI where she studied accounting. While raising her family she worked nights at Washington Trust Company and then at General Dynamics in Groton and at Quonset Point, obtaining the position of a Senior Planner, a post she held for several years. She was also Office Manager for the Adult Day Care Center of Westerly. The past 16 years she was the Office Manager for Anesthesia Associates of Westerly before her illness forced her to retire.

During these years she and her husband raised three children; Richard (Karen) of Westerly, Shannon (Akhil) of Los Altos, CA, and Todd (Leah) of Manchester by the sea, MA. She is also survived by four grandchildren; twins Liv and Wyatt, and Devin and Andrew.
Very proud of her Norwegian heritage, she was able to travel to Bergen, Norway and meet eleven of her father’s brothers and sisters, all of whom were in their late 80’s at the time, along with many cousins.

With many plans for retirement, it all ended to soon – Rest In Peace.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 11 AM. All guests are asked to report directly to St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main St. Stonington, CT 06378, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 28, from 5-7 PM.
