Olive Elizabeth (Maggs) Noyes, 98 of Mystic, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Pendleton Health and Rehabilitation in Mystic, CT. She was born on May 23, 1918, in Westerly, RI, the daughter of Herbert W. Maggs and Jennie E. (Whitmore) Maggs. She was employed by the Ashaway Line and Twine prior to her retirement.
Throughout her life, she remained active in the Eastern Star and the Emblem Club and a number of Civic organizations. She and Clifford traveled all around the United States for various conventions but what she enjoyed most was spending time at home in her garden, crocheting or surrounded by family. Olive made everyone who came to her home feel welcome and was well liked by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be missed by all those she leaves behind.
Olive is survived by her two children, daughter, Mary E. (Edwin) Jette of Mystic and Clifford (Sue) Noyes of Florida, and by her grandchildren, Edwina (Chuck) Ruether of Groton, Lisa M. Noyes-Duguay of Pawcatuck, Amanda (Donne) Bogue of Stonington and Lisa Noyes of New London, as well as great-grandchildren Joshua Hickey, Jim Hickey IV, and Megan (John) Taylor, Brittney Biltcliffe and Ryan Duguay. Great-great-grandchildren include Joshua Hickey, Alexis Burdick and Maureen Hickey. Her surviving siblings include Albert (Loretta) Maggs of Charlestown, Mary Haines of Uncasville and Sarah Armstrong of Ashaway, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Olive was predeceased by her husband Clifford E. Noyes, Sr. after 62 years of marriage, her brother Joseph E. Maggs, grandson Scott Noyes and granddaughter Tina M. (Noyes) Biltcliffe.
The family would like to thank all those who cared for Olive during her last years at Pendleton especially to Jannette who watched over her every day, the caring staff and Hospice nurses and aides who gave her comfort and companionship.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. A private viewing took place on Tuesday afternoon at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home in Westerly, RI and burial took place on Wednesday at River Bend Cemetery in Westerly.
