Shirley Jane Gonzales

Shirley “Honey” Jane Gonzales, 83, of Pawcatuck, CT passed away peacefully at home on Monday September 18, 2017 surrounded by the love of her family. She was the wife of the late Herbert Dennis Gonzales Sr. and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage until his passing in 2013. Born on June 24, 1934 in Westerly, RI, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Emma Jane (Burrell) Jordan.

Known for her kind heart, Shirley was a beautiful person inside and out. She enjoyed taking care of everybody whether it was through home cooked meals or just being there for them. Traveling to visit family in CA or TX was always a priority and she loved to spend the rest of her free time doing puzzles, playing games and cards. Most importantly, she loved her family. Shirley was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

She leaves her three children Shirley, Herb and Jeanetta Gonzales all of CA; her grandchildren DeShawna Danielle Sawyer of TX and Jordan Arthur Shafer of CA; her great-grandchildren Kenna and Landon Sawyer of TX; her siblings Jean Good of CT, Nellie Conderino of CA and Thomas Jordan of CT; and several nieces and nephews along with many family friends.

Shirley will be laid to rest with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery, VA at a later date. Buckler- Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main Street, Westerly, RI 02891 assisted the family with arrangements.
