William R. Hutcheon, 89, of Wakefield, RI and formally of Westerly, passed away on November 5, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jacqueline K. Hutcheon.

   Mr. Hutcheon was born in East Providence, Rhode Island on December 11, 1927, a son of the late William and Marie (Bergermann) Hutcheon. He was predeceased by a brother, Alexander Hutcheon and two sisters, Barbara Schoenemann and Anne Hurley.

   Bill graduated from East Providence High School (1945) and joined the U. S. Army serving from 1945 - 1948. He received a BS degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1953. In Seattle, Washington at the University of Washington he earned an MBA in 1962 and a PhD in 1969.
   
   Bill's career started with the American Brass Company in Waterbury, Connecticut (1953 - 1960). He, then, joined the Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington (1961 - 1965). While he was a doctoral candidate with the University of Washington, he worked as a research assistant (1966 - 1967). Following his PhD, Bill was an Associate Professor at Pacific Lutheran University and director of their OFF CAMPUS GRADUATE PROGRAM at Fort Lewis, WA. (1969 - 1979). From there, Bill went to Panama and Germany as Dean of Student Services Overseas for Central Texas College (1980 - 1988). Bill completed his 41 year career with the Department of Defense as a Management Analyst - U. S. Army - Europe Headquarters at RAF Molesworth, England.

   Bill and his wife Jackie had a life of adventure and activity. During their professional careers they traveled extensively for career assignments and for personal learning and sight-seeing. In the different states and countries where they lived, they biked, hiked, camped, canoed and skied.

   In 1994 Bill retired and returned to his native Rhode Island. During his retirement years he volunteered at the Chorus of Westerly, the Westerly Hospital, the Westerly Library and the Mystic Seaport.

   Calling hours are respectfully omitted. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
