Albert Edward Maggs

Albert Edward Maggs, 98, of Charlestown, RI died peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Loretta (LaBrecque) Maggs for over 64 years.
Born in Westerly, RI he was the son of the late Herbert and Jennie (Whitmore) Maggs.
Albert served his country proudly during World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sargent. He was employed as a Millwright Carpenter at BDA before retiring from the former C.B. Cottrell Co. later Harris Graphics in Pawcatuck, CT.
Mr. Maggs had been Town Sargent in the Town of Hopkinton, RI for several years and was a member of the DAV and the Franklin Masonic Lodge #20 F&AM in Westerly, RI. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Southeastern New England Senior Golf Association, was an avid gardener and enjoyed keeping busy working in his yard and spending time with his family.
Besides his loving and devoted wife he will be sadly missed by his six children; Joyce Collings (Henry), Lorie Gilligan (Tom), Edward Maggs (Julie), Barbara Browning, Charles Maggs (Lori) and Lois Maggs. He was the loving grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He also leaves his two sisters; Mary Haines and Sarah Armstrong. He was the brother of the late Joseph Maggs and Olive Noyes.
The Maggs family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 2-4 PM at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by burial with full military honors in River Bend Cemetery
