Alvin “Bunny” James Perry, Sr. 69, of Westerly passed away surrounded by the love of family on Friday, May 17, 2019. He was the loving husband of Michelle M. (Fontaine) Perry and they shared 42 years together. Born in Providence, RI on June 10, 1949 he was the son of the late Marie (Coates) Perry and her husband Frank Morris and the late Bernard Perry.
Alvin enjoyed his work while at Electric Boat and then as a chef for Charlie O’s Tavern and Cedars Steakhouse in Foxwoods. Outside of work, his artistic talent shined through in his numerous paintings and drawings. He enjoyed riding his bicycle along with trips to Scarborough Beach. Watching his favorite teams, the Redskins, Patriots and Vikings play football was faithfully a part of every fall season. He loved a good joke and had an infectious smile that you could not help but be happy around him. Alvin was the rock of the family, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and a second dad to many he coached for Pop Warner football. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Besides his wife Michelle, he leaves his children A.J. Perry, Jr. and Jacqui Perez; his grandchildren Damin, Trinity and Zoe Perry also Antonio, Meghan and Elani Perez; his sister Jean Gomes along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Bernard Perry and Francine Perry.
A celebration of Alvin’s life will be held at 7:00p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main Street in Westerly, RI. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m at the funeral home.
