Ann E. Anyzeski

Ann E. (Palmer) Anyzeski of Ashaway, passed away peacefully on Sept. 13, 2023, at the Westerly Hospital.  Ann was born to Harry and Elizabeth Palmer on Aug. 23, 1943, in Newport, Rhode Island. She married Frank Anyzeski on Aug. 3, 1963.

A 1961 graduate of Chariho Regional High School, Ann worked in the school cafeteria for many years. She retired from the University of Rhode Island in 2010.

Ann loved watching the hummingbirds, working in her flower garden, playing cards, Bingo, watching football and her favorite soap opera, “Days of Our Lives,” and going to Foxwoods. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Frank; and her brother, Wayne Palmer. She is survived by her son Dan and his wife, Cheryl, of Charlestown; her daughter, Deb McGowan, and her husband, Charlie, of North Stonington; her grandchildren, Maegan Cook and her husband, Ian; Sam Anyzeski and his wife, Caroline; Ryan McGowan; and Matt McGowan and his wife, Molly. She is also survived by two special great-granddaughters, Magnolia and Leah McGowan.  

The family would like to give special thanks to Auntie Linda Palmer; Amy and Tim Babcock and family; Wayne Palmer; and Tommy DeCoste. Their caring and generosity allowed Ann to stay in her home and be independent as long as she could. She could not have done it without them, and the family will always be appreciative of their kindness.  

Per her wishes, there will be no visiting hours and burial services will be private.
