Anna M. Nicholas

March 29, 1943 ~ April 24, 2022 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Tribute

Anna Nicholas passed away unexpectedly on April 24th, 2022, at the age of 79. Anna was the eldest of 8 children born to Julius Livingston and Laura Wood Livingston in South Fayston, Vermont. Being the oldest, she helped raise her siblings while taking on odd jobs to assist with the family’s finances. She would spend her off time skiing in the winter and jumping off the covered bridge into the Mad River in the summer.
Anna moved to the CT/RI area after high school where she eventually met and married the love of her life, Shelby C. Nicholas, III. She worked as a welder in a mill until she had her daughter, Lori. Later Anna went back to school to get her associate’s and bachelor’s degrees while working full time. She spent her career helping others, primarily working with special needs adults in group homes and the elderly. She loved living in Rhode Island for almost 50 years and made many lasting friendships over her shared love of swimming at the YMCA and the beach. Not being someone to shy away from adventure, Anna moved to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to her daughter and Texan family. While there she enjoyed walks in the park, trips to the Texas coast, and developed a newfound appreciation for Tex-Mex.
Anna would best be described by those who knew her as a care giver, her heart would welcome all she met and would help them as much as she could. She was a mother above all to her daughter and so many others, whom she assisted throughout her life. Anna leaves; her sister, Nancy Barnum and brother Kevin Livingston; her daughter, Lori Nicholas; son-in-law, Omar Lopez; daughters in her heart, Kim Pukstas-Bernard; and Stephanie Capalbo-Troupe, and stepsons Harris and Michael Nicholas. Grannie Annie also leaves Ben and Sophie Troupe, Michael and Shannon Austin and many other family and friends in New England and Texas, and her beloved cat Leela. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Shelby C. Nicholas, III; stepson Shelby “Cliffy” Nicholas, IV, her parents, and her brothers; Delbert, David, Larry, Dennis, and James Livingston.
There will be two memorial services for Anna. A memorial service will be held in Westerly, RI on Sunday May 22nd at The Church at Westerly, 120 Main Street, Westerly RI from 2 pm to 5 pm. There will also be a memorial service held in San Antonio, TX on Saturday June 11th at Bethany Garden United Church of Christ, 500 Pilgrim Dr from 1pm to 4 pm.
