Anne K. Duffy, age 81, of Weekapaug, RI and New Vernon, NJ passed away peacefully on Feb 22 after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Married to John P. Duffy for 54 years, Anne is survived by her loving, devoted husband John, her children Hilary Duffy and Kevin Duffy and two grandchildren Patrick and Charlotte Duffy, along with her siblings Christopher Kinney, Jeremy Kinney and Beatrice Kinney Broadwater.
Anne was a friendly, athletic woman with great creative talent. She was an enthusiastic world traveler along John’s side and keenly supported travel opportunities for students and faculty at educational institutes. She was an aggressive tennis player and adored sailing, swimming (with a colorful bathing cap), golfing and long walks. She was a graceful dancer and skier. Anne’s passion for interior decoration led her to return to school at age 45 to earn a BFA in Interior Design at NYSID in New York City, proudly graduating in 1992.
Anne loved flowers, gardens and nurturing their beauty wherever she lived. She could sing a tune alongside anyone willing to harmonize with her and could yodel with the best of yodelers.
The Duffy family is forever grateful to the staff at The Carriage House at The Elms in Westerly, RI for caring for Anne professionally and lovingly in her final chapter.
A memorial celebration of Anne’s life will take place on Friday, May 19th at 10:30am at The Weekapaug Chapel at 106 Noyes Neck Rd. Reception to follow at The Weekapaug Golf Club at 265 Shore Rd. Westerly.
