Brenda Lyn Topel Myers peacefully passed away in Watch Hill, RI on July 24, 2018, after a courageous 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer. 
Brenda is proceeded in death by her father, Lynn Robert Topel and two 2 wonderful dogs Bailey and Henley. Brenda is survived by her husband of 18 years, Jaime Myers, and their 15 year old daughter Marin, the light of their lives, as well as their sweet dog Max. Brenda is also survived by her mother Delores J. Topel, brother Greg and his wife Jill and their son Josh, as well as, brother Shawn, his wife Michelle along with their two children Keegan and wife McKenzie, and Kayleigh.
Brenda was born in Ft. Atkinson on April 3, 1964 and grew up in Lake Mills, WI. She attended the University of Wisconsin Class of 1986 and after working for several years in Atlanta and DC; moved to Charlottesville, Virgina making this her home. She received graduate degrees from the University of Virginia in both Exercise Physiology and  Nursing. While she loved watching the Cavaliers, especially basketball and tennis, she always remained a diehard Cheesehead. Brenda was an amazingly loyal friend and mother, devoting much of her time to helping others. She was also an incredible athlete and avid runner, winning her age group one year in the Charlottesville 10 miler. She and her husband loved to travel, even climbing Mt Kilamajaro in 2001. Brenda developed a love for tennis later in life, playing competitively  at the Boars Head for many years.
While cancer may have won the battle against her body, it never claimed her spirit. Brenda retained her incredible positivity, generosity, loyalty and sense of humor till the end.  She never complained, always maintained hope, and faced her sickness like all athletic challenges in her life, never giving up.
There will be a small, private funeral service in Wisconsin, and a Celebration of Life service at Buck Moutain Episcopal Church in Earlysville, Va in September, with specific service information following from the family. In leiu of flowers, donations can be made to The Buck Moutain Food Pantry and checks mailed to P.O. Box 183, Earlysville, Virginia, 22936. In the memo line “Food Pantry/in honor of Brenda”.
