Catherine Margaret (Hay) Hoddersen, 76, of North Stonington, CT, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Westerly Hospital. She was the loving wife of Bernhard “Bernie” Hoddersen and together they shared 53 years of marriage. Born on June 17, 1943 in Brooklyn Navy Yard, New York, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Catherine Margaret (Clennan) Hay.
Catherine loved her summers and especially time at the Seaside Beach Club. During the warmer time of year, she also would attend the Westerly Summer Pops and events featuring the Chorus of Westerly. In her free time, she would relax with friends playing Bridge, bowling and of course watching every movie on the Hallmark Channel. Above all else was her family. She would do anything for them and they were what kept her going every day. Whether it was baking pies and cookies or having the family over for dinner, sharing the time together as a family meant the world to her. She lived for each milestone and next event in her grandchildren’s lives. She was one of kind and will be so dearly missed by all who knew her.
Besides her husband she leaves her children, Peter Hoddersen and his wife Esther of Jacksonville, FL, Susan Hoddersen of Boca Raton, FL, Laura Jones and her husband Paul of N. Stonington and Michael Hoddersen and his wife Claudia of Pawcatuck, CT; her grandchildren Lea Hoddersen, Lynn Hoddersen, Samuel Hoddersen, Margret Celico, Evan Jones, Seth Jones, Lukas Jones, Julia Hoddersen and John Hoddersen; her siblings Richard Hay and Patricia Martinez; several nieces and nephews along with her dogTruffles. She was preceded in death by a brother Andrew Hay.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Companions & Homemakers, the VNA, Pendleton, and Westerly Hospital – Yale New Haven Health for their care and compassion of Catherine.
