David James Sansone

July 10, 1984 ~ September 17, 2017 (age 33) 33 Years Old

David James Sansone passed away on Sunday evening, September 17th, 2017 in Westerly, RI, as a result of a long, valiant battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family when he drifted off to be with the Lord. He was 33 years old.

David was born in Westerly, RI and attended Chariho High School. From a young age, David showed an intellectual curiosity in all things mechanical. Despite his difficult battle with cancer, he continued on to receive a degree from New England Tech in Automotive Technology, and to work full-time at Electric Boat as a Machinist Methods Writer. David took great pride in all his work, especially his passion for restoring cars. He enjoyed car shows and races, and his love for cars connected David to people from all walks of life. It was well known that David showed his love for others by helping them with their vehicles. He will be remembered by all for his warm smile, kind heart, helping hands, and uncanny ability to make others laugh. His determination and strength of spirit have been any inspiration to many.

David is survived by his parents, David Sansone, Sr. and Denise (Lewis) Hicks; step-parents Shari Aiello Sansone and Albert Hicks; his sister, Sarah (Sansone) Buchanan; brother-in-law Jeffrey Buchanan; brother, Raymond Sansone; sister-in-law Jc Cortez; step-siblings Brian Collins, Samantha Collins, and Tracie Hicks; grandparents Louis and Joan Sansone, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He also leaves behind his two dogs, his ever-loving and faithful companions, Beanie and Violet, who will remain in his family’s care.

Funeral service will be held at Second Baptist Church, 12 Stillman Road, North Stonington, CT, at 11:00am on Friday, September 22, followed by burial at the nearby Union Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of MA/RI.   Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.buckler-johnston.com.
