Douglas Gerard Naehr

Douglas Gerard Naehr, to his loved ones known as “Dougie” or “Pops”, age 70 of Ashaway, RI, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, March 25, 2022. He was the husband of Dale (Monson) Naehr. Born in Seattle, WA on May 2, 1951, he was the son of the late Harry F. Jr. and Mary Elizabeth (Stewart) Naehr.

Doug served on the USS Stonewall Jackson SSBN634 in the US Navy. Following the Navy, he joined the workforce at Electric Boat in Groton, CT where he was employed for 44 years as a welding mechanic until he retired. Doug loved golfing with family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and Las Vegas Raiders. He was a fount of knowledge on any sports related question. He was a nice guy, a good guy, a great guy, a wonderful husband, father and friend.

Besides his loving wife Dale, he leaves his sons Joseph and Gregory Naehr; his brother Larry Naehr; sister Nancy Krivanek; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his brother Patrick Naehr.

A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Monday, April 4th at 4:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 110 High St. Ashaway. Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI is assisting the family with arrangements.
