Frances “Fran” M. (Meringolo) Jones, 75 of Westerly, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at South County Hospital. She was the loving wife of Martin Arthur Jones, Sr. and together they shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Westerly on February 12, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Emma (Azzinarro) Meringolo.
To put it simply, Fran was a knitting artist. If you knew her, she probably knitted you something or she taught you how to do it yourself. She loved knitting and was just one of the ways that she was able to show how much she cared for people. Fran treated everyone that she met, as if you had known her forever. She was “the other mother” to so many and she had a giving heart that had no boundaries. Her sarcastic humor had you always laughing and though she was stubborn, she did everything because she cared. Above all else, her family was the world to her, her best friends were her cousins and the times with her children and grandchildren were some of her most treasured memories. Fran will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Besides her husband Marty, she leaves her son Martin Jones, Jr. and his wife Michelle and her daughter Kimberly Jones; her grandchildren Hannah Trolio, Theresa Trolio, Joshua Trolio and Vincent Jones along with a large and very close extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00p.m on Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St. Westerly. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI.
