A kind and gentle soul passed into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. The Rev. Fred L. Watrous, Jr. beloved husband of the late Alice (Thilberg) Watrous, died in Andover, MA at the age of 91.
Fred was born in Ledyard, CT on October 7, 1927 he was the son of the late Fred L. Watrous and Angie (Chesbro) Watrous.
He was a graduate of Zion Bible Institute in East Providence, RI where he received his Pastoral Degree. He pastored 3 churches over the next 40 years. He was an active member of the Assembly of God denomination for over 50 years.
Fred lived for over 50 years in Pawcatuck, CT. For the last 5 years he resided in Andover, MA and attended the Free Christian Church with his family.
His son; Dr. Bruce Watrous and his wife Coleen of Andover, MA will sadly miss him. He was the loving grandfather of seven grandsons; Matthew, Jonathan, Andrew, Patrick, Nathanial, Samuel and David and the great-grandfather of Andrew Watrous, Jr. He also leaves his two brothers; Steve Watrous and Carroll Watrous both of CA. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters; Louis Watrous, Joyce Shultz-Goodrich, Marjorie Crandall and Royal Watrous.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Seaport Community Church, 28 Great Brook Rd, Groton, CT at 1:30 PM with a calling hour preceding the service from 12:30 to 1:30. Burial will follow in Lambtown Cemetery, Ledyard, CT.
In Lieu of flowers, a donation to Cor Unum Meal Center, 191 Salem St, Lawrence, MA 01843, a food pantry designed to feed the homeless or underserved, would be Fred’s desire.
