Gary A. Goltz

March 7, 1953 ~ March 8, 2023 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Tribute

Gary Goltz, 70, of Westerly, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023. He was the loving husband of Kathy (Lenilko) Goltz for 48 wonderful years.

Born on March 7th, 1953, to the late Walter Goltz and Margaret (LeBlanc) Goltz, Gary spent his childhood in West Springfield, MA, and his summers in Weekapaug, RI with his 3 brothers. He met the love of his life, Kathy, at 16 years old in 1970 when they were attending Cathedral High School. At Cathedral, Gary was the captain of the ski team and raced daily during the winter months. After graduating from high school, Gary attended St Anselm’s College in New Hampshire, focusing his studies on Business and Economics. After graduating from college, Gary and Kathy married in September 1975 and moved to Medfield, MA in 1979 where they raised their 3 children and built some of their strongest friendships and fondest memories.

Gary’s career was in Information Technology, working for companies like Honeywell, Sun Microsystems, and Dell. He had a passion for sales, which was driven by his outgoing and vibrant personality. He was always successful, earning President’s Club trips annually, and being recognized as “Salesperson of the Year” multiple times.

Gary loved many things, including cooking, traveling, photography, New England sports, telling stories, skiing, sea-glass hunting, the ocean, but most importantly spending time with family and his grandchildren. Between coaching baseball and hockey, teaching his kids to ski, and cheering them on from the sidelines at soccer and track, his virtues taught his family well; both on and off the field. From the time that Gary was born, he spent every summer of his life in Weekapaug, where he loved to fish, dive, clam and enjoy his time on the beach. Home to Gary was sitting in his beach chair with a good book (or a cold beer after 5:00), his family and friends around him while his wife sat always by his side.

Gary was the most selfless and generous person, always thinking of others over himself. He loved to tell stories and jokes, and no matter the situation, he was the life of the party and made friends anywhere he went. His laughter carried with him and all those surrounding him, and his charismatic personality was magnetic and will not be left unremembered.

In addition to his wife Kathy, he leaves his children, Brian Goltz (and wife Beth) of Boulder, CO, Daniel Goltz (and Lisa Zarikian) of Franklin, MA, and Kate Moulton (and husband Kevin) of Scituate, MA. His grandchildren, Owen Goltz, Casey Goltz, Bodie Moulton and Leo Moulton, his brother Thomas Goltz (and wife Joan) of Milton, MA, brother Robert Goltz of Orchard Park, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margaret Goltz, and his older brother, James Goltz.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Gary’s name to the American Brain Tumor Association (https://www.abta.org/).
