Glenn J. Miller, age 76, of 6 South Dr. Westerly, RI passed away peacefully Saturday, May 6th 2023 at Westerly Hospital. He was married to Claire Miller for 36 years. Glenn was born in Norwich, CT on February 20, 1947 and was the son of the late Renee (Greenberg) and William Miller.
He graduated from University of Connecticut with a BA degree in Public Administration in 1969 along with a Master of Science from Southern Connecticut State University in 1974.
Glenn served in the National Guard and Reserves in Connecticut with various ranks leading up to Master Sergeant from 1970-1995. He had various roles in his career as a Program Administrator, Community Planner, Assistant Town Manager in Groton, CT and Town Manager of Westerly, RI.
He had a love for travel, relaxing at the beach, spending his time in the winter months in Cape Coral, FL with his daughter Tammy, son-in-law Nelson Marques and his grand-dogs Bella and Laila. His favorite sports were college basketball (Uconn. Huskies), baseball and football. He loved taking walks on the beach with his wife Claire, relaxing with a Bloody Mary drink. Glenn was well-respected in Westerly and was a simple man with a heart of gold. He was always there for family, friends and his church.
Along with his wife Claire, he leaves behind one child, Tammy (Miller) Marques and his son-in-law Nelson Marques of Cape Coral, FL.
A graveside service will be held at 12pm (Noon) on Saturday, May 13, 2023at River Bend Cemetery, 117 Beach St., Westerly. Following the burial, all are invited to a Celebration of Life at 1pm at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 15 E Beach Rd, Charlestown, RI 02813.
