Grace C. Altimari

Grace (Catalano) Altimari, 80, of School St. Westerly, RI, died on Friday May 7, 2021 at her home. She was the beloved wife for 60 years of Richard J. Altimari who sadly predeceased her on April 19, 2021. Born in Westerly, RI on November 22, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Hazel (Sawicki) Catalano.

Grace was an excellent cook and an avid baker. Her cakes, cookies and cupcakes were favorites to all the neighborhood kids. Her door was always open and everyone was welcomed with a smile. Grace always looked forward to Christmas Eve where the entire family would gather around her table for her feast of the seven fishes. Grace also loved to organize & coordinate her Atlantic City bus trip to the MGM Resorts.

The job she was most proud of, was as a mother, and in later years a grandmother. Grace devoted her life to her family. She loved her children with everything she had and raising them brought her great joy. She was the epitome of a proud grandmother when each of her four grandchildren were born.
Grace will be sadly missed by her three children; Richard J. Altimari Jr. (Julie) of Naples FL, Stephen T. Altimari of Westerly and Debra J. Thomas (Michael) of Pawcatuck, CT. She was the loving grandmother of Jennifer, Renee, Alex and Benjamin. She also leaves two sisters, Louise Parberry of Pawcatuck and Virginia Banks of Groton, CT.

In honoring Grace’s wishes, funeral service and burial will be private and calling hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
