Harriet S. Vakassian

December 17, 1944 ~ March 6, 2020 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Tribute

Harriet Ann (Sachs) Vakassian, 75, of Westerly, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2020 at The Westerly Health Center. She was the loving wife of the late Victor V. Vakassian.  Born at Doctors Hospital in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Goldy (Baron) Sachs of Stamford.

While her children attended elementary school, Harriet worked as a stay at home Mom, and was actively involved with the Parent Faculty Organization. In 1980 she entered the workforce at International Salt Company and found her calling in sales. She moved to Isoetec office systems and survived several mergers and acquisitions, working her way up as a National Accounts Sales Manager for Inter-Tel, selling office telephone systems to Fortune 500 businesses. After retiring in 2008, she traveled and focused on her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed reading, dining out, leisurely walks, and family gatherings. She loved sunny days, going to the beach and shopping. One of her favorite activities was watching her grandchildren play baseball and attending their many performances and recitals.

She leaves her two sons Marc S. Vakassian (Stacy) and Jeffrey Vakassian (Barbara); her grandchildren Charlie, Rachel, Wren and Cole; her siblings Kenny Sachs and Ellen Sachs Bernblum; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Victor Vakassian, and her parents Charles R, and Goldy B Sachs.

In lieu of funeral services, there will be a celebration of her life in the coming months.
