Hope Katherine Letterle

Hope "Kay" Tucker Letterle, 78, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2021.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years Elwood (Woodie) Letterle. Born on February 17, 1943 in Wakefield, RI. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Hope (Brown) Tucker. She has been a resident of Westerly, RI since she married in 1965.

Kay was a homemaker and in-home hair stylist. Her passions were walking, knitting, crewel work, baking, gardening and being with friends and family.  She enjoyed traveling to Aruba and cruising with Woodie after his retirement. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a caretaker to all; constantly delivering baked goods and crops from the garden.

She is survived by her children, Steven Letterle and his fiancé Karen Paolucci, Susan Letterle, stepdaughter Pam Chalupka and her husband Don, her sister Nancy Tucker and Thomas Blaszkowski, and brother-in-law Joseph Vastano. She was predeceased by her stepson Richard, grandson Peter Letterle and her sister Barbara Jane Vastano. She has 5 surviving grandchildren: Nancy (Letterle) Faubert, Steven Letterle, Brooke, Caitlin, and Cameron Sullivan. 

She now joins her late husband and friends in Heaven to play cards, reminisce and fanatically clean like she did on Earth. She will be remembered by all for always lending a helping hand and befriending anyone alone or in need.

Family and friends are invited to the calling hours that will be held on Tuesday, September 28th from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 29th at 11AM, at River Bend Cemetery, 117 High St., Westerly.
