John L. Bushell

John (aka Jack) L. Bushell of Westerly passed away peacefully on August 7th, 2022 at Westerly Hospital. He was 91. Jack was the eldest son of the late Ruth and John Bushell of Wareham Massachusetts. Jack is predeceased by a sister and brother, Donald Bushell and Joan Hubner respectively.

Jack was a proud veteran of the US Navy. He was self-employed as a Drywall contractor for over 60 years, both in New York State and Rhode Island. Jack was a sports enthusiast, enjoyed golfing, and was huge fan of the New York Football Giants.

Jack was a loving father of four children. He is survived by his loving partner Paula Willis of Westerly, Rhode Island, and his children Jack Jr., Gregory, Sharon and Bonnie, also his wife Barbara Bushell of Fairhaven MA, his loving brother Alfred Bartkiewicz and his wife Barbara of Westerly Rhode Island, and his sister Ruth Ann McCann of Irvington, NY. He leaves behind eight grandchildren: Kyle, Kenny (deceased), Kelly, Alexandra, Shannon, Alissa, Cooper and Bella, and also many loving nieces and nephews. He was well loved by all and was a very compassionate man. His favorite phrase was, “I thank God for every day.” He will be missed.

Final respects can be made at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home in Westerly on Friday August 12, from 10:30am – 12:30pm. Following the service at Buckler-Johnston will be a burial service at Riverbend Cemetery in Westerly.
