John A. Coon, 83, of Preston, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 20, 2022. He was the husband of the late Annie L. (Turner) Coon who passed in 2020. Born in Stonington, CT on August 11, 1939, he was the son of the late William H. and Edna Mae (Burdick) Coon.
John proudly served his country in the Air Force during Vietnam. After the service, he enjoyed working for Norwich State Hospital until the time of his retirement. He met and married the love of his life Annie in 1968 and together they shared a life time of memories from trips to Maine and New Hampshire to spending time with their family which was most important to him. In his free time, he enjoyed tending to his huge gardens filled with tomatoes, corn and so many wonderful plants. He was a quiet man who enjoyed living a simple beautiful life and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves his sister Barbara Chester and brother William (Diane) Coon along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Doris Crouch and Marguerite Bruno.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, September 9, 2022 at First Hopkinton Cemetery, Hopkinton, RI.
