John Kirk MacKenzie, 69, of North Stonington, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2017. He was the loving husband of Mary Beth (Nute) MacKenzie and together they shared 47 years of marriage. Born on March 1, 1948, he was the son of the late Roderick and Ruth (Callender) MacKenzie.

John served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy as a submariner during the Vietnam War. He went on to work as a technical writer and editor for 33 years until his retirement from Electric Boat. He enjoyed watching his favorite Huskies UCONN Women’s basketball team play along with spending time listening to music and attending concerts. Most importantly, he loved his family and the times spent with them on family trips especially vacations in New Smyrna Beach, FL are some of the most cherished memories. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
