Joseph Barrese, 87, of Westerly, formerly of New Rochelle, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was the loving husband of the late Geraldine C. (Sutton) Barrese and together they shared 64 years of marriage until her passing in 2016. Born in Port Chester, NY on August 7, 1930, he was the son of the late Cosmo and Josephine (Falco) Barrese.
Joseph served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war, he was a dedicated and hardworking truck driver for Precision Grinding Co. He had a great sense of humor and was a kind, loving and giving person to all. Most importantly, he loved his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the lights of his life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves his children Patricia Muscari and her husband Michael, Catherine Pirillo and her husband Michael, John Barrese and Joseph Barrese and his wife Denise; his grandchildren William Quinn, Stacey Sinapi and her husband Paolo, Courtney Quinn, Taylor, Amanda,m Dawson, Colton Barrese and his great-grandchildren Victoria and Stephanie Sinapi.
Calling hours will be held from 12:00pm (noon) to 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI. There will be a service following the calling hours at 2pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
