Joy B. Griffin

Joy B. (Gavitt) Griffin, 82, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, New London. She was the wife of the late Frederick B. Griffin. Born in Westerly, RI on September 23, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Munson and Fredricka (Bakker) Gavitt.

Joy was an active member of the Second Baptist Church in North Stonington, CT for many, many years.

She leaves her sons Scott Griffin of PA and Brett Griffin and his wife Bonnie of FL; grandson William Barrie Griffin of PA; sisters Bette-Ruth Crandall and husband Kenneth Crandall of CT, Mary Frances Staskowski and husband Robert of RI, Nancy B. Minton and husband Ron of TX and Susan J. Horton and husband Terry of FL and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Joy’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI followed by committal services at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. All are invited to come beginning at 10:30am before the services.
