Katherine M Vacca

Katherine Carolina Vacca, 104 of Westerly, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at the Alpine Nursing Home in Coventry, RI on Saturday January 9, 2021.
Born in Westerly on March 25, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Giuseppina (Spezzano) Algiere.
Katherine was a strong willed and fiercely independent woman. She worked at Bostitch for many years and then enjoyed being a volunteer at Westerly Hospital in the cafeteria. She also remained active in numerous local women’s clubs. When she wasn’t working, she loved to travel. She once even drove cross country with her daughter-in-law Barbara and for her 80th birthday she took a hot air ballon ride. Katherine was up for any adventure any time. Most all she loved her family, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She leaves her sons Frances “Skip” Vacca and his wife Sur, Pat Vacca and his wife Barbara; 9 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Vincent Vacca and 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
A special thanks to her granddaughter, Chris and her dugher-in-law Barbara for their extra care.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI 02891 is assisting the family with arrangements.
