Lawrence G. Place

Lawrence G. Place, 91 of Charlestown, RI died peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Rathbun) Place.
Born in Newport, VT on November 27, 1927 he was the son of the late Harold and Adeline (Taylor) Place.
Lawrence served with US Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier FDR. He worked at the C.B. Cottrell Co, Electric Boat and Posi Seal and Fisher Control as a QA inspector.
Besides his loving and devoted wife of 71 years he is survived by his daughters; Linda Benoit and Debra Fortune (Christopher). He was the grandfather of; Alan Benoit, Melissa Benoit, Jeremey Fortune, Kerri (Fortune) Brown and Zachary Place and great-grandfather of 10. He also leaves his brothers; Charles Place and Neil Place and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son; Gary L. Place, grandsons; Gary Place II and Ronald Benoit, and his sister; Pauline (Place) Swafford.
His family would like to give special thanks to all his wonderful friends/staff at the Westerly Health Center for their loving care he received there.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 Am at River Bend Cemetery, 117 Beach St. Westerly. Calling hours are kindly omitted.
