Leon E. Bennett

March 21, 1962 ~ April 6, 2020 (age 58) 58 Years Old

Tribute

Leon E. Bennett, 58, of Cranston, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 at RI Hospital after a brief illness. Born in North Kingstown, RI, he was the son of the late Mervin Alton and Alice (Brayman) Bennett. He was also preceded in death by his foster parents Emil and Mildred Rehneerg.

Leon graduated from Cranston High and went on to service in the Army National Guard for several years. He was always a hard worker and enjoyed being at Legion Bowl and Billiards and especially as a mechanic, Passport Auto. He had a gift with cars and could put together and fix any type of vehicle. If it wasn’t a vehicle though, he had no idea how to fix it which always made his family laugh. Most importantly, he loved all of his family and was the glue to keeping the connections between them even when his siblings were separated by being raised in different homes. He was a good man and will be so dearly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves his siblings Loucinda O’Malley, Barbara Esau, Betty Galvin, Marlene Newman, William Bennett, Philip Bennett and Christopher Charest along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings Donald Bennett, Thomas Bennett, Mervin Bennett, Jr., Deborah Bennett, Robert Bennett and Alice Bennett.

Due to the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19, a memorial services will be held at a later date. Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly RI, is assisting the family with arrangements.
