Lois Marie Schmitt

Lois Marie Schmitt, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her precious granddaughter Sarah and loved ones on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.  She was the loving mother of Kurt Hasenkampf and Rhonda Hasenkampf De La Cerda(Richard). Daughter of the late Albert Joseph Schmitt and Jeannette Mariande Schmitt. Sister of the late June Bonck and brother of the late Albert Schmitt, Jr.  Survived by her sister Jeannette Cohen.  Proud grandmother of Adam Richard De La Cerda(Whitney) and Sarah Elizabeth Lemay(Christopher).  She is also survived and fondly remembered by two great grandchildren Christian Richard De La Cerda and Adelaide Rey De La Cerda.

She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, aunts, and her special godchild Susan Zimmer. She will forever be in the hearts of all who loved and cared for her from Golden Years assisted living.

Born in New Orleans and lived in Gentilly until moving to Pennsylvania, Texas, and Florida after marrying the late Earl B. Hasenkampf.  She returned to New Orleans to live until she moved in 1995 to Minnesota, Tennessee and finally Rhode Island with her daughter Rhonda.

She was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High school and loved dancing, swimming, horse racing, bingo and playing the slot machines. 
She was a special soul and will be missed and warmly remembered by all who truly loved her.

There will be a Catholic Mass in her home town in the future.
