Louis Thavenet, Jr.

April 30, 1944 ~ December 1, 2023 (age 79) 79 Years Old

It is with sincere sadness that the Thavenet Family announces the passing of Louis (Skip) Thavenet, Jr. our husband, father, grandfather and mentor. Skip was born in Hartford, Ct. in 1944 to the late Louis and Esther (Patton) Thavenet. He leaves behind his wife of forty-eight years, Evelyn Sayles Thavenet, his daughter, Kristin Hamm, DPT, JD (John) of Arlington, Ma. and son, Eric S. Thavenet, (Alexandra) of Pawcatuck. In addition to his son and daughter he leaves his beloved granddaughters: Annabelle and Zoe Thavenet and Victoria Hamm.
   Skip, was the President of Thavenet Machine Company, established in Pawcatuck, CT, by his grandfather in 1921. He proudly passed the reins of the Company to his son Eric a graduate of URI in Mechanical Engineering. Eric’s leadership marks the fourth generation of Thavenets at the helm of the business.
   In 1962, Skip graduated from Norwich Technical High School. He held lifelong memberships in various organizations, including the Pawcatuck Fire Department and the Westerly Yacht Club. Additionally, Skip was a devoted member of the Pawcatuck Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons (Coastal Lodge #57) for fifty-eight years, where he also served as Master Mason.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday December 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church, 7 Elm St, Westerly, RI, burial will follow in River Bend Cemetery, Beach St. Westerly, RI. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the “Skip Thavenet Scholarship Fund” established in 2019 by the Thavenet family for students in Stonington, North Stonington, Westerly, and the Chariho School District pursuing post high school education in the trades.
