Marcia R. Smith

Marcia R. Smith (Richardson, Cogswell), 78, passed peacefully surrounded by her family September 20, 2022. She was born March 18, 1944 in Providence, RI to the late Laura (Mason) and Louis Richardson. Marcia spent 36 wonderful years married to her beloved husband, Charles M. Smith III.

She graduated from URI in 1966, majoring in education. She later went on to teach for 28 years in Rhode Island at Gladstone Elementary and then at Bradford Elementary. Marcia had a passion for teaching and was very dedicated to all her students.

She never missed a Red Sox game and was an avid fan of many New England sports. Marcia enjoyed many summers at Hundred Acre Pond and at her pool. She also loved her yearly trips to Walt Disney World with family and friends.

She is survived by: her husband, Charlie; her three daughters Kara and her husband Dan Rose, Kirsten and her husband Tim Rose, and Karissa and her husband Kyle Roberts; eight grandchildren; and three sisters.

Her family will greet relatives and friends from 4 to 7 on Monday, September 26th, at the Buckler- Johnson Funeral Home, 121 Main Street, Westerly, RI.

Marcia will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery of North Stonington in a private burial service.
