Mark Alan Seltzer

October 26, 1948 ~ March 20, 2018 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Tribute

Mark Alan Seltzer, 69, of Westerly, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 20th. He was the husband of Diane Corwin Seltzer and together they shared 40 years of marriage. Born in New York, NY on October 26, 1948, he was the son of the late Dr. Bernard Benjamin and Ethel Nelson Seltzer.

Mark spent his childhood in Hollywood, FL, and moved to New England to attend Franconia College to pursue a degree in Education. As a 6th grade teacher at Pine Point School in Stonington, CT, he met the love of his life, Diane. He was both a teacher and salesman - eventually combining those passions to become the Director of International Admissions for New England Tech, then finishing his career at the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS), in Newport, RI. While in admissions, he recruited students from Bermuda, The Caribbean, and Norway and enjoyed traveling to those countries where he made many friends. Anyone who knew Mark, would describe him as a serial retail entrepreneur, taking on new adventures in business wherever he saw the opportunity. In his free time, Mark loved to be out on the water, sailing, but most importantly, he loved being surrounded by his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was loved by all, and will be dearly missed.

He leaves his children Elizabeth Seltzer Ranfone and her husband Michael Ranfone of Hamden, CT, Jonathan Seltzer and his wife Silvana Giorno Seltzer of Westerly and Katherine Seltzer and her fiancé Chad Hoffman of New Haven, CT, his grandchildren Hannah Seltzer, Ella Seltzer and Leo Ranfone, along with an extended family including several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Vicki Seltzer-Seiler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Buckler- Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main Street, Westerly. Burial will be held at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pine Point School.
