Mary Jane Flynn

Mary Jane Flynn passed into the arms of God on July 20, 2021 at South County Hospital in Rhode Island.
Mary was born in Bridgeport, CT on September 8, 1939, the daughter of Robert and Helen (Fennell) Flynn.

Mary Jane graduated from Sacred Heart Grammar School, Lauralton Hall, St. Joseph University in West Hartford, CT and she received her MA and sixth year degrees from Fairfield University.
She taught at Maplewood School in Bridgeport, CT for 33 years.

Mary was a selfless and compassionate person. She led her life by her good example; spending any amount of time in her presence inspired you to be a better person. To know Mary is to love her and those who speak of her emphasize her unconditional love and glowing spiritual sense.

A devoted Catholic, friends were treated like family and family was the most treasured part of Mary’s life.

Mary enjoyed many family events. She always looked her best and took pride in her appearance.
She is survived by her sister Anne Marie Flynn Walsh and her husband William D. Walsh, also Sally Hook Flynn and nephews William J. Flynn and wife Sharon, Michael F. Flynn and his wife Tracy, Brian J. Flynn and his wife Kerry. Several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, her brother Robert F. Flynn, Jr., and nephews Robert J. Flynn and David E. Flynn.

The family extends special thanks to Mary’s caregivers at Roberts Heath Center, North Kingstown, RI.

Mary Jane will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends and forever will be remembered in our hearts and prayers.

A committal service will be held on Tuesday, August 24th at 11am at St. Michael’s Cemetery Stratford, CT
