Nikolaus A. Pellegrino

October 1, 1993 ~ January 5, 2022 (age 28)

Tribute

Nikolaus Arthur Pellegrino, 28, passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident on January 5, 2022. Born in New London, CT on October 1, 1993 he was the beloved son of Joseph “Jay” and Ebba (Larson) Pellegrino.
Nikolaus accomplished many things in his short life. A 2011 graduate of St. Bernard High School, he was a standout tennis player. Captain for two years, 2011 Class S Doubles State Champion, two time All State, All Area, and All League selection and competed in the 2010 USTA Junior Team Tennis Sectionals. He had a way with the ball and it showed. Nikolaus went on to play tennis at Franklin Pierce where he would study sports management.
Nikolaus' love of the sport would carry over to adulthood where he coached the boys Varsity Tennis team at Ledyard High School. He loved giving back, teaching, and being a Colonial. The HS athletic director Jim Buonocore had this to say: “A coach’s worth is found in the impact made on the game & in their players' lives. Coach Pellegrino’s impact on Ledyard tennis was significant and we will be forever grateful”.
A long time employee of Regal Cinema in Stonington, he took pride in his job as Assistant Manager and employee at Two Little Fish in Misquamicut, but where he really was at home was working the family parking lot “Flyhawk” in Misquamicut. Here Nik could be Nik, a people person. He loved talking to people and being at the beach.
Nikolaus also loved marching annually in Our Lady of Mount Carmel carrying a family banner. He was looking forward to becoming a member within the society later this year.
Nikolaus was an avid music and movie lover. He also was a huge Providence College Friar Basketball fan, and loved going to the games with his family. He will forever have courtside seats. Go Friars!
Besides his parents, Nikolaus leaves behind his maternal grandparents Roy and Angella Larson. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Francis and Ann Pellegrino. He also leaves his brother, Anthony Larson and wife Deanna, his sister Ebba Ann Pellegrino, his uncle Paul Larson, aunt Patricia Coleman, and his nephews Dominic and Derek with whom he adored.
