Rita G. Marcey-Cataldo

Rita Marcey Cataldo, 95, previously of 10 Timothy Drive Westerly passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2021. She was predeceased by her husbands, F.F. “Pete” Marcey, and Ignatius V. “IV” Cataldo and three sisters, Josephine, Ann and Catherine Grillo. She is survived by her 4 daughters, Denise Marcey Pellegrino, (Tony), Gayle Marcey Guertin, (Charlie), M. Nicole Marcey, and Marian Marcey Raczkowski. Her grandchildren include Ashley Hoffman, (Tony Giangrande), Alyssa Boardman, (Maurice Sims), Thomas Boardman, (Ewa), Peter Boardman, (Katy), and Nicholas Raczkowski. She also leaves 5 great grandchildren, Catherine Lathrop, Skye Raczkowski, Grayson and Gavin Boardman, and Jax Boardman. She will be sadly missed by Sharon Cataldo Freitas of West Palm Beach, FL and her cousin, Marye Leone, of Lawrence, MA.

Rita was born in Lawrence, MA on February 1, 1926 to Nicholas and Josephine (Ferrigno) Grillo. She attended Lawrence schools and graduated from Lawrence High School. After graduation her family moved to Westerly, RI. Rita held many secretarial positions over the years. Her last position was with Resort Condominiums International in Burlington, MA. Most recently she enjoyed working as a volunteer at the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce and the Westerly Hospital. She was a member of the Westerly Yacht Club and a faithful communicant of St. Pius X Church.

Walk through calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly. Social distancing guidelines and other public health directives (i.e., use of facemasks) are in place. There will be no cortege from the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 10:00 am at St. Pius X Church. Burial is immediately following the mass in St. Sebastian Cemetery.
