It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Robert "Bobby" Clarke 77 of Westerly on December 10th, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. Born on December 5, 1944, he was the son of the late Donald and Marion Clarke. Robert retired from the Harris Graphics division of Heidelberg Press after 44 years of service as an expert machinist frequently traveling out of the country to repair/install printing presses. During his retirement, he worked for Cherenzia Excavation and Rawson Materials as a weight scale operator. Bobby was very involved in the Dunn's Corners Fire Department as an active lifetime member.
Bobby was known for his quick wit as well as his calm demeanor. He was a former softball player in the Westerly mens’ leagues, as a life long member of RIMS, Bobby also enjoyed driving on the beach, watching NASCAR, and socializing with his many friends as a member of multiple clubs in Westerly. Bobby especially enjoyed Wednesday nights at the "senior center".
Robert leaves behind a brother William Clarke and sister Sharon Clarke and is predeceased by his stepson Donnie Felicetti. Also survived by his wife Joyce of 40 years who he loved very much. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Danene Maggs and husband Brian and Patricia Smith and husband Ronnie and mother of his children, Linda Clarke. Bobby was a loving stepfather to Nina Laing and husband Ken, Dean Felicetti and wife Rose, Diane Whitman, and husband Kevin. "Poppy" Bobby was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 16 at the Calabrese Club located at 28 Pleasant Street, Westerly from 4 pm-7 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Robert Clarke's name to the Dunn's Corners Fire Department 1 Langworthy Road, Westerly, RI 02891.
