Robert W. Kenyon Jr.

Robert “Bob” W. Kenyon, Jr., 47, of Ashaway, RI, died unexpectedly after a brief battle with a highly aggressive bacterial blood infection with his family by his bedside.  He was the beloved husband of Carrie (Wilcox) Kenyon.

Born in Norwich, CT, February 13, 1976, he was the son of Paula (Gingerella) Niedermann of Westerly, RI and the late Robert W. Kenyon, Sr.

After graduating from Chariho High School on 1994 he began his career serving in the U.S Coast Guard. After this he kickstarted his career in Law Enforcement serving the Hopkinton Police Department, retiring as Sergeant. Once retired from the HPD he joined the University of Rhode Island’s Police Department where he served up until his death. His passion as a K-9 handler was shown in both Departments alongside his companions Axel and Phender.

Besides his loving and devoted wife, he will be sadly missed by his two children Jordynn Cahoon and Robert W. Kenyon III. He also leaves behind his beloved mother, Paula (Gingerella) Niedermann, her husband Robert Delaney, his father and mother-in-law David and Deb Wilcox of Hope Valley, RI as well as, brother-in-laws, Brian Wilcox (Kerri), David Wilcox (April) and sister-in-law, Devon O’Keefe (Patrick) and he was the grandson of Madeline Gingerella of Westerly and Wallace Brayman of Hope Valley. He also leaves many cousins, several nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.

The Kenyon family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday April 26, 2023, from 3-7 PM at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home.  Burial will follow with full military honors in Wood River Cemetery, Wyoming, RI.

The family would like to thank Westerly Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital for their extraordinary and compassionate care provided to Robert.
