WESTERLY- Robert B. Watz, of Westerly, R.I., died peacefully on Monday, January 1, 2018. Born on September 15, 1930 in Westerly, he was the son of the late Patsy P. Watz and Ida (Calise) Rhodes.
Robert was a Korean War Veteran who proudly served with the 187th Airborne RCT and 11th Airborne Division. He worked for 42 years as a model joiner at Electric Boat Corp., in Groton, CT before retiring.
Robert was a Communicant of St. Pius X Church. He was also a life member of the VFW Harley P. Chase Post, 11th Airborne Division Association and the 187th Airborne RCT Association.
Besides his loving wife, Joan (Gale) Watz, Robert leaves behind his children, Michael J. Watz, Joseph T. Watz, Angela M. Watz, Anne M. Lynch, Sharon Kuhn, Mark Egan, and Paul Egan; six grandchildren, Nikki, Joshua, Samantha, Kyle, Julia and Emily; one great-grandchild, Hunter; a sister, Elaine Laurenzo; his brother Bruce Rhodes, and many special nieces and nephews.
