Ruby E. Gavitt

Ruby E. (West) Gavitt, 78 of Potter Hill Road, Westerly, RI died peacefully on Saturday October 6, 2018 at the Westerly Health Center. She was the beloved wife of David E. Gavitt.
Born in Westerly, RI on December 29, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy (Arnold) West.
Ruby had been a Type Setter for the Westerly Sun and later a School Bus Driver for the Westerly Public Schools driving bus number 11 for Dunn Corners School for many years before retiring.
She had been an avid bowler and an active member of the Westerly Senior Center where she enjoyed playing table tennis.
Besides her loving and devoted husband she will be sadly missed by her children; Janice Buck (Edward) of Bradford, RI, Bonnie Langlois (Steven) of Hope Valley, RI and Steven Gavitt of New York City. She also leaves her grandchildren; Christopher Buck, Emily Longlois and Patrick Langlois and her sister Dorothy Barber (Jim) of Hope Valley, RI. She was predeceased by her daughter; Karen Barker and her sisters and brother; Priscilla Ballato, John West and Joyce Johns.
The Gavitt family will greet relatives and friends from 6-7:30 on Thursday October 11, 2018 with a memorial service starting at 7:30 at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI. Burial will be private in River Bend Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Westerly Senior Center, 39 State St. Westerly, RI in her memory.
