Ruth (Bergius) Howard

NORTH STONINGTON-Ruth Bergius Howard, 94, daughter of dairy farmers, Oscar and Albertina (Matson) Bergius, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 3, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Leonard E. Howard; sadly he predeceased her on December 23, 1994.

Ruth was a life- long resident of North Stonington, CT. She was a graduate of the
Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing and a member of the Nursing Alumni Association, she was a Registered Nurse at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, CT for over 30 years before retiring.
Mrs. Howard was an active member of the North Stonington Congregational Church and the North Stonington Garden Club.
Ruth will be sadly missed by her sons; Mark Howard of Warwick, RI, Matthew Howard of North Stonington, CT and Eric Howard of North Stonington, CT. She was the loving grandmother of 7 and great-grandmother of 1. She was predeceased by her sisters; Vivi Simonds, and Anna Katz.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 2:00PM at the North Stonington Congregational Church, 89 Main St., North Stonington, CT, with a reception in the Hewitt hall of the church. Burial will be private. Memorial donations in Ruth’s name may be made to L+M Hospital, c/o Development Office, 365 Montauk Ave., New London, CT  06320.
