Salvatore “Sal” Parise, 87, of Elizabeth St. Westerly, RI died peacefully on, Thursday, July 19, 2018. He was the beloved husband for over 63 years to the late Elisabeth (Espen) Parise.
Born in Westerly, RI on June 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Eugene and Elizabeth (Falcone) Parise.
Sal served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War serving in Germany. During that time he met the love of his life, Elisabeth in her country of Luxembourg where Sal was the first American to marry since World War II.
Sal was affiliated with his brother Eugene “Sonny” Parise as Masonry Contractors for many projects; for over three decades he remodeled kitchen and baths. Sal was a former Westerly Town Councilman and participated in establishing the town manager form of government in Westerly. Sal served in many organizations; he was a Past Commodore and Life Member of the Westerly Yacht Club, Life Member of the Elks, Calabrese Club, and Past President of the Westerly Lions Club.
He will be deeply missed by his children; Eugene and Richard Parise, his adoring grandchildren; Sara, Sasha, Amy, and Daniel, several nieces and nephews, his brothers; Edward and Ralph Parise, and sister; Philomena Perri. He was predeceased by brothers; Joseph and Eugene, and sister; Mary Totin.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 5-7pm at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly, RI. Burial will be Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 1pm in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly, RI.
