Shawn M. Gooding

Shawn Gooding died unexpectedly Friday morning, April 20, 2018. His family and friends will deeply miss his outgoing and vibrant personality. He was as charming as he was good looking. Friends were like family to him. Wherever Shawn went in Westerly, people knew him and called him by name. Shawn believed his purpose in life was to make people happy and to be there for them. Whether they needed a ride to work, emotional support or someone to take charge during a crisis, Shawn was the go-to-guy.
Born in Middletown, CT, Shawn grew up in Westerly, RI attending school here and later graduating from The Met School in Providence in 2006. He held a variety of jobs after high school but most recently established his own business, Painting and More, drawing upon his technical and artistic skills to be his own boss.
Shawn was a loving father, fiancée, son, brother and friend. His passions included animals, camping, outdoor activities, cooking, travel, and working out. Shawn is survived by his son, Jake, his fiancée, Amanda Kolesar, his parents Antonio Gooding and Julie White-Gooding, his brother and sister-in-law, Shann and Liz, his sister, Donna, as well as other family members around the country.
Calling hours will be on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with internment to follow at River Bend Cemetery.
