Shirley A. Judge
February 14, 1928 ~ November 25, 2021 (age 93) 93 Years Old
Shirley Ann (Fox) Judge, 93, of North Stonington passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on November 25, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Donald R. Judge, who pre deceased her on January 25, 2021. Born on February 14, 1928 in Ilion, New York, she was the daughter of Robert and Gladys (Henza) Fox. Shirley and Donald married in Frankfort, New York in 1948 and were married for 73 years. Shirley was a proud Marine Corps wife, traveling and living in many parts of the country until finally settling in North Stonington with Donald and their daughters, Donna and Susan, in 1967. Shirley worked as a secretary at Mystic Seaport, Mystic Education Center, and for ARC of New London County. She was very active in the Congregational Church of North Stonington and filled many positions, such as Women’s Fellowship, Deacon and Financial secretary, singing in the choir, and playing in the hand bell choir. She was also a board member of the North Stonington Historical Society, one of the first board members at Wheeler Library, and a member of the North Stonington Garden Club. Art was a lifelong passion for Shirley, and became an avid Impressionist-style oil painter after retirement. Painting was a great source of joy for her, and her other hobbies included sewing, knitting, reading, and bridge.
Shirley will be sadly missed by her daughter and former son-in-law, Donna Pelish of North Stonington and Eric Pelish of Uncasville, and daughter and son-in-law Susan and Brian Brennan of Ashaway. She is also survived by three nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services and burial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley’s name to the North Stonington Congregational Church.
