Tribute

WARZECHA—Theodore V. Jr. born on December 31, 1943. Theodore Valentine Warzecha of Naples, FL and Westerly, RI passed away peacefully at his home on June 11, 2021 surrounded by his family. Ted was the son of the late Theodore and Helen Warzecha of Portland, CT and the older brother of Marianne, who predeceased him in 2015.

Ted loved and respected his parents and their solid values and hard work. He carried these values forward as guides for himself and examples for his daughters. Ted grew up in Portland, surrounded by a loving family, extended family and many friends. He and his friends stirred up fun, bordering on trouble, in central CT in their teens, and Ted continued to be game for a good time throughout his life.

Upon graduation from the University of Hartford, Ted began his career as a purchasing agent at Pratt and Whitney. He then transitioned into statewide sales and marketing positions at Southern New England Telephone, where he excelled, and gained innumerable friends.

Relaxing was simply not appealing for Ted, who much preferred to work in his yard or on a challenging project. Ted was an avid outdoorsman, and often engaged in activities such as hunting, boating, fishing, golfing, skiing and clamming. He loved to travel, especially to Poland, and he took many cruises throughout the tropics. Ted was always eager to meet new people, and…it was Ted who was likely to be the initiator.
Ted was a student and admirer of American classic cars, especially Chevys from the 50’s and 60’s. His car collection was a great source of pride for him, and his collection changed and grew throughout the years.

Ted was a devoted father and grandfather, always engaging with his family in ways that enabled him to share his zest for life with them. He was a kind and incredibly generous individual, his smile and sparkling blue eyes were his trademarks.

Ted is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Kim and Carl Moore of Scituate, MA and Michele and Jonathan Carlisle of Essex, CT, as well as his five grandchildren, Micala and Morgan Moore, and Ana, Peter and Samuel Schavoir. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 29 years, Ellen A. Warzecha. Ted also leaves behind many friends, most of whom have been life-long, and a very special friend, Agnes Entwistle.

Those wishing to offer a contribution in Ted’s memory are encouraged to remember The American Heart Association.
