Bonnie Gail Bennett

February 24, 1949 ~ December 24, 2022 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Tribute

Bonnie Gail Bennett, wife and friend of John R. Bennett, died peacefully on Christmas Eve. She was born on February 24, 1949 to Stuart and Eileen “Monte” Belden in Rockville Centre, NY.

Her early interest in textile art led her to work in theater production first in regional theater and then in New York, Hartford and Santa Fe. She also taught theater design at Connecticut College. She moved to Stonington to help care for her parents when she began her own landscape design business, allowing her to bring her interests in gardening and design together. She often described how a good garden design should be like a theater set for living. Her work can be found in numerous gardens throughout Stonington. She also worked as decorator at Zuckerman Harpsichords where she met her eventual husband, John. After their marriage she continued landscape design while working with him in his business designing and decorating historical keyboard instruments.

Bonnie is survived by husband, John, two step-sons and two sisters, Claire and Mimi and their families.

At her request there will be no calling hours or public service. Gifts in her memory can be made to the organizations she most supported The Chorus of Westerly and The Westerly Land Trust.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI is assisting the family with arrangements.
